How do I build links? If you are just starting out, the chances are you already asking yourself this very question. You might find the points listed below handy. Before I get to it remember you must have content and quality content at that to expect to build quality links. This assumes you have invested considerable amount of time in building content for your site or blog. Till such a time, remove the thought from your mind.
Once you have the content ready you can get aggressive on building links. Here are 10 ways to build links to your website.
- Link to quality related sites
- Only submit to directories that matter
- Use Social Networking sites
- Forums and Blog comments
- Use Reciprocal links wisely
- Use a link baiting service wisely
- Get reviewed
- Use eBay, Amazon, Craigslist, Yahoo answers, Google groups, Flickr etc
- Tools, freebies generate links by the dozen
- Give away MONEY
You always start building incoming links by linking to quality sites in your domain. Do make sure you are linking to related articles / blogs / websites that have good authority. People do keep track of who is linking to them. If your site turns out to be the real deal, you should get a few links back.
Submit to DMOZ and a handful other directories that are related to your domain. Remember it will take time to be listed in some directories such as DMOZ. Submit and move on, do not get obsessed with submitting your site to all the directories out there. Whatever you do, do NOT use software or services that promise you a gazillion links for only $19.95
Submit your content to Digg and other similar social media/networking sites. Wait till you have decent content on your site before you do this and be smart, pick the article that is most likely to be dugg.
An old trick, using forum signature and blog comments to link back to your site. Be careful not to spam when using blog comments. Ensure your posts and comments add value. Hey, nobody said link building was easy.
Whilst many people frown at the thought of using reciprocal links, this is by far the easiest way to build incoming links to your site. Keep it small, keep it related, do it slow and spread it over time.
This tactic is only as good as the provider. Make sure you use a reputable service.
Use sites like Review Me or PayPerPost to review your site or blog. Select a related and authoritative blog, one that does not use nofollow in their link back to you.
You get the picture. Keep it clean and related and never come across as a link spammer. Remember, once it’s out there, there is no way to get it back.
Create and invite users to start using a plugin, a template, a website design, anything that you can develop and give away for free with ofcourse a link back.
Hey if you cannot build anything from point 9, money will do. There is no better way to get links but to run an outrageous contest or event. Sweeten it by giving away money.
Do the above and pretty soon you will be well on your way in building an authoritative website or blog and ofcourse climbing those search engine rankings. Lastly, remember. great content is gold. Work on that and the links will follow with or without following these 10 link building tips.
